Psychiatric Care That Sees the Whole Person
Adult and Child Psychiatric Care of Severna Park provides thoughtful, evidence-based mental health care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults throughout Maryland. From psychiatric evaluations and medication management to therapy, ADHD care, trauma support, and treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, every visit is grounded in careful listening, collaboration, and respect for your individual goals.
Whether your family is searching for answers, your current treatment no longer feels right, or you need a steady clinician to help you navigate the next step, you deserve care that feels personal—not rushed or fragmented.
“I created Adult and Child Psychiatric Care of Severna Park because I have seen how difficult it can be for individuals and families to find compassionate, high-quality mental health care when they need it most.”

Shannon Tieman, DNP, PMHNP-BC, AGNP-BC, CRNP
Dr. Shannon Tieman believes meaningful psychiatric care begins with understanding the person behind the symptoms. Her philosophy combines compassion with careful, evidence-based treatment. She brings experience in child and adult psychiatry, mental health crisis intervention, addiction medicine, co-occurring disorders, and integrated primary care, allowing her to consider both emotional and physical health when developing a treatment plan.

Services

Psychiatric Evaluation & Diagnostic Clarification
A thorough psychiatric evaluation creates the foundation for effective care. Dr. Shannon Tieman takes time to understand your symptoms, medical history, past treatment experiences, current medications, daily challenges, and personal goals.

Psychiatric Medication Management
Medication can be one part of a broader mental health plan, but it should never feel automatic or impersonal. Psychiatric medication management includes thoughtful medication selection, adjustments, monitoring, side-effect review, and ongoing conversations about what is—or is not—working.

Child, Adolescent & Family-Focused Psychiatric Care
Young people may not always have the words to explain what they are experiencing. Changes in mood, concentration, behavior, sleep, school participation, or relationships can leave both children and caregivers feeling uncertain about what to do next.

Co-Occurring Mental Health & Substance Use Care
Mental health and substance use concerns often overlap, yet patients may be asked to seek help from disconnected systems. Dr. Tieman brings extensive experience supporting individuals with co-occurring psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioid, stimulant, cannabis, nicotine, and medication-related concerns.
Insurance-Covered Care
Adult and Child Psychiatric Care of Severna Park accepts Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare Insurance Plans throughout the State of Maryland. Inquire for more details.
How It Works
1
Book an Appointment
Choose an appointment visit from anywhere in Maryland. New patient appointments allow additional time for a complete history and thoughtful assessment.
2
Your Visit
Your first visit focuses on understanding what you have been experiencing, how it affects daily life, previous treatment, medications, health history, relationships, and personal goals. You will have time to ask questions and discuss possible next steps.
3
Follow-Up & Ongoing Care
Mental health care evolves. Follow-up visits may include medication monitoring, therapy, symptom review, education, safety planning, and coordination with other clinicians or community resources. Your plan is adjusted as your needs change.

Why Choose the Adult and Child Psychiatric Care of Severna Park Clinic?
Care Across the Lifespan
Children, adolescents, adults, and seniors can receive psychiatric care within one relationship-based practice. This lifespan perspective is especially valuable for families navigating different mental health needs at the same time.
Deep Listening and Personal Connection
Appointments are designed to move beyond a quick symptom checklist. Patients are encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions, and take an active role in decisions about medication, therapy, and follow-up care.
Evidence-Based Clinical Excellence
Treatment is informed by psychiatric research, advanced clinical education, and extensive experience in mental health, primary care, crisis intervention, and addiction medicine.
Community-Focused Collaboration
When care involves therapists, schools, primary care clinicians, hospitals, recovery programs, or family members, the practice works to reduce fragmentation and create a clearer path forward.
